About

I'm Andrea, and this is my personal blog. Thanks for being here! I usually post on Fridays and Sundays, when I share something that makes me happy or a spiritual thought for the week. Sometimes I manage to squeeze in another post or two.

The Boy's Favorite Halloween Song

...is this:

He hasn't seen the movie. Or this video. And watching this now, I don't think he's going to; not this year, anyway.

Maybe something more innocent, like It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! I think he'd like Snoopy.

Anyway, Happy Halloween!

Paaaaaaaiiiiiiiintiing! Boooo!

We painted our pumpkins last night for Family Home Evening. (The Boy hates pumpkin guts. So, paint.)

"Pumpkin Pi"

Why Are We Here?

Here's a quick, simple explanation of what Mormons believe about our purpose here on earth, how we got here, and where we're going. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Hey, it's Friday! I've been saving this one for today, the Friday before Halloween:

You are never truly alone. Comforting, right?

A Giveaway!

...on my other blog. Heehee.

It's a good one, though. We're giving away some kids' art supplies--scissors, crayons, fun stuff like that. And you know every mommy needs a stash of extra art stuff. I'll be totally honest with you here: we don't have very many readers yet, so your chances of winning are pretty darn good.

So head on over and check out Pie for Breakfast's first giveaway!

Like God

"The Atonement was designed to do more than restore us to the 'starting line'--more than just wipe the slate clean. Its crowning purpose is to endow us with power so that we might overcome each of our weaknesses and acquire the divine traits that would make us like God."

...What Now?

The Boy had his sixth birthday a few weeks ago.

I'm very proud of him, and all that, but...six? We're pretty much out of the "early childhood" stage, here.  And almost all of my experience with kids is with early childhood.

I don't really know anything about six-year-olds. At all. So I kind of feel like we're flying blind. We'll see how it goes.

So far, six seems a lot like five--but with the ability to say a lot more. Our conversations with him are more involved. But conversations in front of him are pretty much over. Unless we want him repeating things to his Primary class that he, uh...shouldn't.

(As far as I know, that hasn't happened. But it's just a matter of time.)

Pie for Breakfast?!

Hiiii! I'm really excited today because...you know how I used to have a separate homeschool blog, called Pie for Breakfast?

(If you don't, just play along.)

Well, my super-awesome friend, Melissa, and I are starting it up again. Today! And I'm pretty sure it's going to rock, because Melissa has the best, most creative ideas ever.

So head on over there to see what's new!

Happy Friday!

It's Friday! And I'm totally not freaking out about everything I have to get done today. Heh heh. Heh.

Anyway, here's a Friday funny for you. I'm not saying anything political here, one way or the other. I just really like unexpected puns.

Aaah! General Conference!

{photo by More Good Foundation}

General Conference! It's soon!
That's what went through my head yesterday.
[Here's more info on the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.]

So I've been gathering ideas to keep The Boy busy and at least a little bit engaged. Aaand...I've been thinking I should share my favorite resources for General Conference kid stuff. There are tons of awesome ideas out there. These are just some that I think will work well for The Boy.

Let's start with my favorite favorites:
Moms Have Questions Too has several posts with super-original General Conference activities for toddlers and preschoolers.

Katie's Blogness has a note-taking activity that I think will be perfect for The Boy, since he loves wheeled things.

More sites that were helpful:
Food Storage and Beyond has her own activities, as well as links to others.

Sugardoodle has new packets up for this conference, of course.

Lady Create-a-Lot's activities are good for the whole family.

Here are some activities for different age levels, plus snack ideas.

About.com's LDS page has some of the usual ideas--bingo, matching games, that kind of thing.

And LDS.org has activities for getting your kids ready for General Conference, which I think is a really good idea. I also like their Games & Activities page--it's got fun stuff that you can do anytime.

Are you guys getting ready yet? What are some of the best General Conference resources that you've found?
